Celebrating Patriotism and Leadership: My Experience at Girls Nation with the Star Spangled Banner

On June 7, 2024, I had the honor of representing Maine as a delegate at the American Legion Auxiliary’s 2025 Girls Nation program in Washington, D.C. The event began with a moving rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, setting a patriotic tone for the week. Alongside other young women from across the country, I participated in mock Senate sessions, learned about the legislative process, and engaged in discussions about civic responsibility and leadership.

Throughout the program, we met with elected officials, toured historic landmarks, and gained firsthand insight into the workings of our federal government. The experience not only deepened my appreciation for American democracy but also inspired me to become more involved in my community. I am grateful to the American Legion Auxiliary for this unique opportunity and look forward to applying the skills and knowledge I gained in future endeavors.
