Katy Area Retired Educators (KARE) marked the start of its 25th year with a spirited “Hooky Day” celebration on the first day of school. The event, held at Midway Barbecue, brought together more than 100 retired educators who enjoyed breakfast, camaraderie, and a sense of nostalgia for their teaching days. The morning began with the singing of the national anthem, setting a patriotic tone for the festivities. Attendees also participated in door prize drawings and received updates on KARE’s upcoming activities and community service projects.
The annual Hooky Day tradition allows retired teachers to reconnect and celebrate their contributions to education while welcoming new members into the organization.
